ABOUT

Climate change has increased the severity & frequency of wildfires globally.

In 2017 and 2018 there was a dramatic increase in wildfires compared to previous years.

This website’s focus is on a few areas on the Western American Continent but the dramatic increase in wildfires includes many other areas on the globe. It isn’t a USA problem it is a global issue. This website’s purpose is to present the information visually, because seeing is believing for many of us. We have the ability to observe Earth as we never have before. Some of the visual evidence for climate change and it’s effects is available here for general public. There are many scientific studies on the issue of global warming but this website is for anyone who wants to see for themselves rather then sorting through data from the myriad of data available.

This website’s mission is to increase the awareness of how critical the issue of rapid climate change, Global Warming has become. After the 2017 & 2018 wildfire seasons no one should be denying the reality of Global Warming.

The severity of wildfires in the western USA has brought the urgency of addressing the Global Warming issue into focus.

If you see the images NASA has taken from space on the home page you can get an idea of why the increase in the severity and number of fires is almost catastrophic.  It is not only the loss of human life & property that are problematic but also the possibility that more and more of our wilderness areas will burn adding additional CO2 to the atmosphere causing even more burning. It is a problem that could cause a snowball effect. If rapid climate change continues, wildfires are going to continue to increase moving inward into the American Continent and we could all find ourselves watching our own beloved neighborhoods or wilderness areas burn. In addition, the release of additional CO2 cause by wildfires adds to the problem, what other unforeseen surprises of Global Warming are we going to see in the future? The “not in my lifetime” reasoning may not just be selfish but could also be short sighted.
